We harvested the first of the garlic this last week. The Inchellium Red made it through the flooding, but just barely. About a week ago, it started tiling all over the place and we figured it was as ready as it was going to be.
The Zemo, Music and Iggy’s garlic will get harvested next week. We’re expecting much bigger bulbs on those. The Inchellium Red was planted a little closer to the back of the property which means it got wetter than the other three.
So we pulled it and hung it to dry. We dug the shallots too as they seemed ready. Now they are all bundled and hung to cure. They will make an appearance in fall in our homemade sausage as well as multiple meals this coming winter when you need that little extra heat.
